On 1 November, Slovenia celebrates the Remembrance Day – a public holiday and a day off.

This day in Slovenia is imbued with a particularly reverent feeling for the memory of ancestors, for all close and dear people who have crossed over.

According to tradition, on the Remembrance Day, Slovenes visit the graves of their relatives, leave flowers and light candles to pay tribute. This date is an occasion for meetings with family and friends, for joint visits to the cemetery and church.
