13th Fantastic Film and Wine Festival Grossman in Ljutomer
The Metropolis movie opened the 13th Fantastic Film and Wine Festival Grossman in Ljutomer, which will last until 15 July.
The guests of the festival will watch a horror performance “Creatures of Fashion” by EdiTh & Sebastjan Šemeret, in which fashion and art have closely intertwined. Today, a symbolic “wine path” has opened, where local winemakers represent their products. The Metropolis movie by Fritz Lang will be shown to the public in its newest 2010 version background by Mitja Reichenberg (pianoforte).
The programme of the festival includes 41 feature films and 41 short films from 29 countries. In the Vicious Cat category, six movies (from thrillers to tragicomedy and horror) will compete for the best feature film title. Another 13 films can be watched in the out-of-competition festival programme. 41 short films were selected from more than 1,300 applications.
This year, the Vicious Cat category has no representatives from Slovenia. The Slak’s Vicious Cat category of short films will feature a movie about the return of the Širom Trio to their origins (directed by Noémie De Pas, Tit Brecelj) and the documentary Music Is the Art of Time 2, Lp Film Buldožer – Spit Truth into The Eyes by Varja Močnik about the Buldožer band. The Retrospective category will be dedicated to Sergio Stivaletti (Italy), one of the greatest masters of visual and special effects. Two films at the festival will commemorate the Flemish director Harry Kümel.
The festival programme will include creative workshops, the Balkan Genre symposium and book presentations. The musical programme of the festival will feature performances by rappers Klemen Klemen and N’Toko, the French band Banane Metalik and the Croatian band Psihomodo pop. The Grossman Festival will traditionally end with a “zombie parade,” followed by a closing ceremony with awards and announcing the champion among winemakers.
