A Film by an Employee of the Graduate School of Arts of the University of Nova Gorica, Professor Rajko Grlić, Was Awarded the Grand Prix of America at the International Film Festival in Montreal

An employee with years of experience from the Graduate School of Arts of the University of Nova Gorica, Professor Rajko Grlić with his new film “The Constitution of the Republic of Croatia” (“Ustava republike Hrvaške”) won the Grand Prix at the International Film Festival in Montreal, Canada.

At the prestigious Montreal World Film Festival, the film by Rajko Grlić won the Grand Prix of America — the best film award. In addition to the unanimous assessment of the jury, the film also gained a huge money award of US $ 100 000. The Montreal World Film Festival is the only festival of A category in North America.

The film was created in collaboration with the Slovenian Centre of Cinematography. The next event, at which the Slovenian audience will be able to watch this film, will be the Festival of Slovenian Film in Portorož. The first show of this film will be held today on Wednesday, 14 September as part of the competition program of the Montreal World Film Festival.

“This is a love story that reveals our prejudices and intolerance of dissent. This is a story of courage, which confirms the idea that our today’s appearance is the result of our own efforts, and that we still love ourselves,” as it is written on the official website of the University of Nova Gorica.
