A Household Waste Recycling Plant to Be Installed in Maribor
The cost of the new plant is 12.5 million euros. This is the largest investment project in the history of the Maribor’s Snaga utility company.
The company’s own funds amount to 2.5 million euros. Another 10 million euros are the loan funds. The launch of the plant is planned for the middle of next year. It will process mixed municipal waste. The resulting recyclable material will then be marketed.
At the end of July, Snaga issued all documentation required to start the construction work. Last week, the territory for plant installation was placed under management of the contractor—the Kostak Company.
The representatives of Snaga assure that the new equipment will significantly reduce the cost of mixed household waste recycling.
“Today we pay 124 euros for processing 1 ton of mixed municipal waste. We will ensure a reduction of this amount to 95 euros,” the manager of the company Cveto Žalik says.
Representatives of other municipalities in Slovenia have taken interest in the project. The letters of intent have already been signed with the municipalities of Šentilj and Ptuj.
The waste recycling plant is the first of 18 projects to be implemented in Maribor in the sphere of circular economy.
