A New Educational Centre to Be Built in Slovenj Gradec
A new educational centre with an area of more than 8,400 m2 will be built in Slovenj Gradec (Carinthia region). The work budget is 11.6 million euros. The project is initiated by the Ministry of Education, Science and Sports. It is one of the largest investment projects in the field of secondary vocational education. The ceremony of laying the corner stone with the participation of the Acting Minister of Education, Science and Sports Maja Makovec Brenčič was held on Thursday, 10 May 2018.
As noted the acting minister, the project is aimed at the development of vocational education and training of specialists on the shortage occupation programmes for the labour market. Budget funds for the project are envisaged until 2022. In the current academic year, 1,200 students study at all programmes of the local educational centre.
The construction works will start in the second half of 2018. The works will be held in two stages. At the first stage, a gym and a woodworking workshop will be built, and the second stage will be devoted to the construction of the school building.
Maja Makovec Brenčič also took part in the ceremony of laying the corner stone for the construction of a sports centre at the basic school in the settlement of Mislinja called the Mislinja Health and Sports Centre. The project budget is 2.9 million euros. For its implementation, the Mislinja Municipality on a competitive basis received 448 thousand euros from the Ministry of Education as well as above 1 million euro from the Ecofund.
