The construction works on a new terminal have started at the Ljubljana Jože Pučnik Airport. The corresponding agreement was signed in June 2019 by Fraport Slovenija, its leading partner – GIC Gradnje from Rogaška Slatina, as well as Elcom, a Ljubljana company.
The completion of works is planned in the second half of 2021. At the end of the works, the corresponding equipment will be installed. The total budget of the project exceeds 21 million euros. According to the airport website, the new terminal will have 22 check-in windows, 5 control lines and 3 baggage lines, a baggage service, a large duty-free shop, a new business lounge, as well as cafes and advertising planes.
It should be noted that according to the results of 2018, a record passenger flow was registered at the Ljubljana Airport – over 1.8 million people. The new terminal with an area of 10,000 square metres will enhance the comfort of travelling for passengers and provide an opportunity to increase the throughput from 500 to 1250 people per hour.
