A Record Number of Employees Received the End-of-Year Bonus in Slovenia in December 2018
In December 2018, the end-of-year bonus was received by a record number of employees of Slovenian enterprises – 168,180 people or 23.2% of the total employed population. For comparison, the smallest number of employees received the end-of-year bonus in 2013 – 89,468 people or 14.1%. In 2017, the end-of-year bonus was received by 148,843 people or 21.3% of the total number of the employed population.
The end-of-year gross bonus last year averaged 667 EUR – 7 EUR more than the average extraordinary bonuses in 2017. The employees received the highest extraordinary bonuses in 2007 – 764 EUR, and the lowest – 595 EUR – in 2016.
In December 2018, 57.2% of people employed in finance and insurance received the end-of-year bonus, followed by employees in the housing and utility services – 43.3%, and employees in the field of power engineering – 41.5%. The smallest number of employees received the end-of-year bonus in the field of public administration – 0.4% only. The end-of-year bonus was received by 8 to 10% of people employed in the healthcare sector, in the tourism industry, in real estate operations, in construction and in the field of information and communication technologies.
The average end-of-year bonus in 2018 in the field of information and communication technologies amounted to 1,295 EUR gross, in the field of real estate operations – 1,120 EUR, in the sphere of housing and utility services – 1,109 EUR. The highest end-of-year bonuses were paid in Posavje (on average – 932.5 EUR gross), in the Southeast region (791 EUR), in Carinthia (723 EUR) and in the Central region (721 EUR), while the lowest bonus salaries were received in the statistical region of Primorsko-Notranjska (455 EUR) and in Zasavje (479 EUR).
It should be noted that the average gross salary in November last year was 1,813 EUR, which is 8.1% more than in October 2018. The average net salary in November 2018 was 1,186 EUR, which is 9.2% higher than in October.
