A Record Number of Tourists Visited Ljubljana in 2017
In 2017, Ljubljana was visited by a record number of tourists in the history of the country – 841,320 people. The number of tourists arriving in Ljubljana increased by 14% as compared to 2016, and the number of overnights grew by 16% and for the first time in history exceeded 1.5 million (the exact figure is 1.548 million overnights). This is evidenced by the data of the Statistics Service.
Last year, 95% of tourist arrivals in Ljubljana were made by foreign guests and 5% – by the local visitors. The number of both in the mid-annual measurement increased by 16%.
Among foreign tourists, Italians made the largest number of overnight stays – 11%, followed by Germans – 7.6% and English – 7%. Foreign tourists spent an average of 2 days in Ljubljana.
