A Slovenian Athlete Wins Bronze at the World Cup in Sport Climbing
Janja Garnbret got five wins in the last seven stages and twice took third place participating in two categories (lead climbing and bouldering).
The penultimate stage of the World Cup in sport climbing took place in Xiamen (China). Garnbret clinched the final win in the overall standings, having won the third place in the lead climbing category. The main rival of the 18-year-old Slovenian athlete was a representative of South Korea Jain Kim, who, following the results of the stage, was only the eighth. The athlete from the village of Šmartno-pri-Slovenj-Gradcu had 120 points of advantage before completing the stage. This is what allowed the Slovenian champion to celebrate the victory even before the final stage in Kranj.
In the men’s standings, Domen Škofic failed to enter the finals. In the semifinals, he took 17th place.
The World Cup season in sport climbing will end on 12 November in Kranj.
