A Spate of Tourist Activity Is Recorded in Slovenia in 2018

According to preliminary data, 5.6 million tourists visited Slovenia in 2018, making a total of 15.3 million overnight stays in the country. This follows from the Statistics Service data published on 31 January 2019.

These figures significantly exceed the figures for 2017 – 4.95 million visitors and 12.6 million overnight stays. Only in December 2018, 314 thousand tourists and 842 thousand overnight stays were registered in Slovenia, while local tourists accounted for less than a third of the above visitors and overnight stays.

It should be noted that in early 2018, a new guest registration system was introduced in the country, which requires all hoteliers to report data on an ongoing basis.
