“We all come from the streets and still remember the times when we played football on asphalt. Therefore, we had an idea to build a modern mini-football hall,” Boštjan Cesar emphasizes a day after the match with the national team of Malta. “This hall will be of indoor type, with a standard playground for mini football sized 40 x 20 metres. The floor will be laid with parquet, which will allow holding competitions in other sports,” he added.

Football is popular not only in the Šiška microdistrict (where the head coach of the national team Srečko Katanec lives), but also in the Fužine and Štepanjsko naselje districts, as noted by Denis Striković, a representative of the Ljubljana Municipality at the ceremony of laying the cornerstone. “For example, we are proud of Samir Handanović and Zlatan Ljubijankić as well as all the guys who are now participating in this project and actively playing football,” he added.
The first sports centre in Ljubljana will be built within six months. For the next 30 years, it will operate under the management of the Trigemini Company, and then it will become the property of the local municipality.
