A Student from the Faculty of Economics of the University of Ljubljana Wins a Silver Medal at the European Games

A student from the Faculty of Economics of the University of Ljubljana, Tjaša Ristić, won a silver medal at the European Games in Minsk, Belorussia. During the final fight in the weight category of up to 61 kilograms, the Slovenian karateka yielded the championship to a Ukrainian athlete, Anita Seryogina. In the semifinals, the Slovene defeated a French athlete, Gwendoline Philippe.

Tjaša Ristić is the winner of the last two European karate championships and the Mediterranean champion. On Sunday, 30 June 2019, she carried the flag of Slovenia during the European Games closing ceremony in Minsk.

It should be recalled that according to the results of the second European Games, Slovenian athletes won 4 gold, 1 silver and 1 bronze medals. Competitions were held from 21 to 30 June 2019. During these days, 8,000 tourists visited Minsk. The tournament budget amounted to 265 million US dollars.
