A Student from the University of Maribor Wins First Place in the Trajnostna Energija Contest

A student of a Master’s degree programme from the Faculty of Energy Technology Boštjan Krošelj won first place in the contest held by the Borzen d.o.o. company. The Trajnostna Energija contest involved 57 students from Bachelor’s and Master’s degree programmes of higher educational institutions in Slovenia.

The Slovenian operator of the energy market, having organized a student contest, strove to raise the awareness of young people about the importance of energy supply to buildings. The company plans to create a creative “bridge” between the research potential of students and the current dilemmas on energy efficiency.

Boštjan Krošelj prepared his research on a case study of a secondary school building in Jesenice, which requires an entire spectrum of works on energy efficiency provision. The Borzen Company chose this object in cooperation with the Ministry of Education, Science and Sport of Slovenia.

Boštjan Krošelj prepared his research under the direction of Professor Dr. Zdravko Praunseis (Laboratory of Energy Management and Engineering). Taking advantage of the theoretical and practical knowledge obtained, he managed to use its benefits in his research.

At a preliminary stage, the scientific research of Boštjan Krošelj was among the 17 best works. In the finals, he entered the list of top three winners. In the main part of the contest, he presented and defeated the scientific work before the expert commission, which awarded Boštjan Krošelj the first place and a cash prize.

The second and third places were taken by students from the Faculty of Civil Engineering and Geodesy of the University of Ljubljana.
