A Visit of the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to the University of Nova Gorica
On the 18th of May, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan in Slovenia, H. E. Mr. Keiji Fukuda, visited the University of Nova Gorica. He was accompanied by the Head of the Department for Political and Economic Affairs, Yoshiaki Makino.
The University Rector, Prof. Dr. Danilo Zavrtanik, the Vice-Rectors — Prof. Dr. Gvido Bratina and Prof. Dr. Mladen Franko, as well as the Dean of the Graduate School of Viticulture and Enology, Assistant Prof. Dr. Branka Mozetič Vodopivec hosted the honoured guests in the Lanthieri mansion.
After the official meeting ceremony, three current agreements were introduced to the Ambassador. Those were the agreements that the University had signed with the following Japanese institutions: the Centre for High Energy Physics (Centrom za fiziko visokih energij (KEK)), the University of Saitama and the University of Josai. Moreover, both parties negotiated on the possibilities of strengthening cooperation both in the field of pedagogical activities and in the field of students exchange programs, joint training programs, and research projects.
At the end of the visit, the Ambassador also visited the Wine Research Centre (WRC) / Center za raziskave vina, CRV and the Higher Viticulture School / Visoka šola za vinogradništvo, VŠVV , where he was presented the sorts of wine that had been produced on the territory of the University’s grape farms (ung.si).
