A large fair of agricultural and woodworking machinery, handicrafts and consumer goods has recently finished in Komenda. Over 600 exhibitors took part in the fair. The guests of honour of the event were the Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Food, Aleksandra Pivec, and the Minister of Economic Development and Technology, Zdravko Počivalšek. The opening ceremony was also attended by the President of the local horse club, Lojze Lah, and the Mayor of Komenda, Stanislav Poglajn.
The event included an exhibition of horses of four breeds — the Lipizzaner, the Posavski, the Haflinger and the Cold Blood Slovenian horses. The guests of the event could take part in a master class on working with a chainsaw, as well as in a rich cultural and entertainment programme. The fair was visited by a record number of politicians, mayors, candidates for mayors and other VIP guests. In general, over 70 thousand people attended the event. This is several times more than the total population of the municipality.
According to officials, the fair demonstrated the focus of society on the development of sustainable agricultural practices and the desire of local manufacturers to follow high international standards.
