Best Meme Contest

The Association for Nonviolent Communication announces a national contest for the best meme as part of the pan-European project Step Up/Korak naprej! The deadline for meme submission is 12 August 2017. Age of participants is from 18 to 28 years.

Why meme? The word “meme” means a phrase or idea, which is distributed as a virus and instantly receives a nationwide confession. Memes can influence behaviour and even change cultural attitudes. Finally, memes can become a tool for spreading a bright idea among as many people as possible.

The organizers ask future contestants to consider various actual ideas of the Step Up/Korak naprej project in their memes — “Making a Step towards the Victims of Violence”.

Terms: all memes should be sent before 12 August 2017.

Who has the right to participate: students or student teams; age: from 18 to 28 years.

How can I create a meme: you need a good idea, and special software will take care of the rest:

Meme Generator
MemeCrunch
QuickMeme

Each participant can submit an unlimited number of memes.

Delivery form: a meme should be sent in .jpg, .png, etc format. You can also submit text without pictures. Videos or animated pictures are not accepted.

How can I submit materials: all materials should be sent to tjasa.dnk@gmail.com.

Special requirements: memes should relate to one of the following topics:

• rehabilitation and social adaptation after suffering violence;
• programs to help women and children who are victims of violence;
• the right to live without violence;
• the needs of women who are victims of violence.

Mem must contain a positive message. Use of aggressive and offensive language is not allowed.

Who will select the best memes? A competitive commission composed of Manca Švara (graphic designer and expert on new technologies), Tjaša Hrovat (violence counsellor, Association for Nonviolent Communication) and Gašper Mlakar (violence counsellor, Association for Nonviolent Communication).

Participation in the contest is a unique opportunity to promote your idea at the Slovenian and pan-European level within the worldwide virtual space of the Internet. Your meme can become the backbone of projects and actions against violence. In addition, the authors of the three best works will receive valuable prizes.
