Competition for Memorising and Reproducing the π Number

On Wednesday, 14 March, a traditional competition will be held at the Faculty of Mathematics and Physics of the University of Ljubljana to memorize and reproduce the mathematical constant π (pi). The competition is held annually on 14 March—the birthday of Albert Einstein and the Pi Day.

This year, the competition of the number π connoisseurs will be held for the twelfth time. Students, schoolchildren and anyone else can take part in the competition. The beginning is on 14 March 2018 at 1:00 pm. The registration form is available here. It is also possible to register right at the Faculty 15 minutes before the beginning of the competition. Rules for evaluating competition participants in their skills to memorize and reproduce the number π are available here. The rules, in particular, allow the contestants to correct themselves, if they make a mistake, but this is possible only until the next decimal point of the number π is reproduced. Otherwise, the jury will interrupt the representation.

The results of the competition will be published on the website of the Faculty of Mathematics and Physics of the University of Ljubljana. Three winners will receive interesting prizes. Tasty treats and good mood are guaranteed to all present spectators.
