Cuisine of Slovenia’s Regions: Buckwheat Roll

Cooking time – 90 minutes.

Ingredients (for 4 persons)

  1. 5 eggs,
  2. 100 g buckwheat flour,
  3. 100 g sugar,
  4. 0.5 sachet of baking powder,
  5. 1 sachet of vanilla sugar.


Preheat the oven to 200 °C.

Separate the yolks from the whites. Beat the whites until stiff peaks. Put the beaten whites into a separate plate. Meanwhile, beat the yolks, sugar and vanilla sugar until foamy. Add flour pre-mixed with the baking powder. Mix it all together well and top with a few beaten whites at the end.

Line the baking sheet with the paper for baking. Pour the mass into the baking sheet and distribute evenly along the whole area. Bake in the preheated oven for 10 minutes. Take the ready roll out of the oven, wrap in a dry clean towel and let cool for 5 minutes.
