Cuisine of Slovenia’s Regions: Chicken Steaks with Honey & Mustard Sauce

Cooking time: 30 minutes.
Ingredients (for 2 persons)
- 2 chicken steaks,
- white pepper or garlic,
- 1 tbsp mustard,
- 2 tbsp honey (floral, acacia, or forest),
- juice of 1 lemon,
- 3 tbsp vegetable oil.
Prepare two pans. Pour one tablespoon of vegetable oil into one of them, and two into the other. Salt and pepper chicken steaks from both sides. Bake both steaks in the first pan (with less oil). Cook for about 10 minutes so that they are well baked.
Add the mustard and honey sauce made from mustard, honey, lemon juice, salt, and pepper into a deep bowl. Mix all the ingredients well and pour the resulting sauce into the second pan. If the sauce is too thick, you can add some more lemon juice. Cook for about 10 minutes on low heat. Pour the ready sauce into the first pan with baked chicken steaks. Cook together for about 5 minutes.
This dish tastes perfect with rice, potatoes boiled in their jackets, or French fries. If you are cooking for children, the sauce should be a little sweeter and without adding pepper.
