Cuisine of Slovenia’s Regions: Meat in Creamy Mushroom Sauce with Rice and Vegetables
Cooking time – 60 minutes.
Ingredients (for 4 persons)
- 1 chicken steak,
- 1 turkey steak,
- 1 pork steak,
- 200 g creams,
- 100 g sour cream,
- 300 g champignons or other mushrooms (canned mushrooms are possible),
- 0.5 tbsp soup concentrate,
- a bit of flour.
Rinse the meat. Cut it into strips or cubes. Heat the vegetable oil in a deep frying pan. Put the meat into the frying pan. Add salt and pepper. When the meat is baked well, add the mushrooms and bake a little more. Sprinkle a tablespoon of flour on meat and mushrooms, mix, and pour a little water (about 50 mL or less).
Mix well and cook the meat gravy with creams and sour cream. Add a chicken broth cube, bring to a boil, add creams, then add sour cream and cook for about 5 minutes more. Sprinkle with chopped parsley and stir before removing from heat.
Steamed long-grain rice is perfect for meat. To prepare the garnish, put 3 tablespoons of butter, a bit of Vegeta seasoning, add mini carrots and beans, mix everything a little, add rice and leave for a couple of minutes so that the ingredients mix well with each other. The dish can be served with curry paste or other additives to taste.
