Cuisine of Slovenia’s Regions: Skutina Zléjvanka — Curd Chees Pudding
A delicious and easy-to-prepare dessert.
Ingredients for 8 portions
- 120 g butter (margarine),
- 4 eggs,
- 5 tbsp vanilla sugar,
- 0.5 kg curd cheese,
- 700 mL milk,
- 450 g flour,
- 9 g baking powder,
- crushed lemon zest (to taste),
- sugar powder.
Whip the egg whites into a foam in a bowl and add 2.5 tbsp sugar. Mix the softened butter until fluffy in another bowl, add the yolks and the remaining sugar. Then add curd cheese, lemon zest, milk and 225 g of flour with baking powder. Stir well and then add the whipped whites. Sprinkle with the remaining flour and mix well.
Butter the baking sheet and sprinkle it with coarse flour. Lay out the dough on the prepared baking sheet. Bake in the oven for 45–50 minutes at 190 °C. The curd cheese must be baked to a brown colour. If necessary, reduce the temperature by a few degrees.
If desired, sprinkle the ready pudding with sugar. Put it aside to cool down, cut and serve to the table.
