The Development of Cooperation between Slovenia and Iran

In the nearest future, Slovenia and Iran can launch a joint payment system. This would remove the main obstacle for the normal operation of Slovenian companies in Iran. The “Gorenjska banka” Bank reported that the preparation of the financial cooperation with the two Iranian banks is at the final stage.

The Slovenian enterprises Riko, Duol, Iskratel and Comit have recently opened a general office in Tehran. Now they are forced to work with Iran through the third countries. This entails unreasonably high costs and loss of competitiveness, as the State Secretary of the Ministry of Economy Aleš Cantarutti noted in his interview with a Delo journalist.

However, the problem can be resolved. The “Gorenjska banka” Bank experts explained that to support clients in commercial transactions with the Iranian economy, they decided to establish direct contacts with the Iranian banks.
