Employment Opportunities: Labour Market Outlook for the Fourth Quarter of 2016 According to the ManPowerGroup Company Research
The ManPowerGroup Company Research. For the fourth quarter of this year, the Slovenian employers forecast the highest growth rate of employment since the beginning of the study in 2011.
Ljubljana. — The Slovenian employers are optimistic in their forecasts concerning the rate of employment in the last quarter of this year. This is evidenced by the results of the ManPower research on the employment dynamic forecasts released yesterday by ManPowerGroup.
The net employment outlook after seasonal adjustment is 11% and is the best since the beginning of the study in 2011. The study also shows that 14% of employers expect for an increase in employment, 6% of employers predict a drop, and 77% of the total number (620) of employers surveyed do not expect any significant changes in the structure of employment during the October-December 2016 period.
The employment rate forecast results for the last quarter of 2016
– Taking into account the seasonal adjustment, the net rate of employment forecast makes +11%.
– In the next three months, the employers from 9 out of 10 economy sectors in all four statistical regions of Slovenia and in all types of companies without regard to their size expect for the growth of employment rates.
– Right in four sectors, employers forecast the best opportunities for employment since the beginning of the study for almost 6 years ago. These industries include manufacturing, construction, restaurant and hotel business, public administration and social services.
– Employers predict the most optimal structure of the labour market for large companies of the Central Slovenia, where, in their opinion, there was the best situation from the beginning of the study in 2011.
The highest level of employment is in the manufacturing sector
As compared to the previous quarter and the same period last year, a forecast of the net employment rates has improved by 5%. In the fourth quarter, persons seeking for employment will receive appropriate opportunities for employment in almost all sectors of the economy (except for one) and in all regions.
The most promising prospects for the unemployed are opened in the manufacturing sector, the employers of which forecast a growth of employment rate by 21%, which is the most optimistic level since the beginning of the study in 2011. The most optimistic forecasts are suggested by the employers from the manufacturing, construction, restaurant and hotel industries, public administration and social services in the south-eastern region of the country and in large companies.
In 9 out of 10 economy sectors of Slovenia included into the research, employers expect the growth of employment rate in the last quarter of this year. At the same time, the employers from 4 industries have expressed the best forecast from the beginning of the study by ManPower.
The employers from the manufacturing industry expressed the most optimistic expectations, because their net forecast makes +21%. The employers of the construction industry also predict that the employment rates will be high. Their net forecast makes +18%. Good employment opportunities exist in the field of transport, logistics and communications, as well as in the wholesale and retail trade.
Employers from the public administration and social services expressed assessments that are more reserved. However, they are also optimistic giving a net employment forecast of +10%. The employers from the sphere of restaurant and hotel business provided the forecast of +8%. At the same time, employers in the sectors of agriculture, hunting, forestry and fishing in the last quarter of this year do not plan to hire new employees. Their net employment rate forecast is 0%.
The comparison with the previous quarter shows that the employment rate outlook has improved in 8 out of 10 economy sectors. The most notable rate growth was achieved by the employers of the construction industry — 16%. In the field of wholesale and retail trade, the employment opportunities improved by 8%, in public administration and social services — by 7%. An increase in the growth of employment opportunities is also determined in the manufacturing industry — by 5%. On the contrary, a slight decrease in employment opportunities by 3% is noted in the area of financial and business services, insurance and real estate.
As compared to the last quarter of 2015, the rate of employment outlook has improved in 6 out of 10 economy sectors. The labour market situation in the construction industry improved significantly by 22%. In the manufacturing industry as well as in the wholesale and retail trade, the employment rates forecast is 9% better than for the same period last year. A similar positive outlook has improved by 5% in the field of transport, logistics and communications. However, in the four economy sectors included into the survey, the employment opportunities decreased. We are talking about the financial and business services, insurance and real estate (by 5%) and the sphere of electricity, water and gas supply (by 4%).
