Moving procedures for family reunion in Czech republic

The Family Reunification regulations determine the conditions under which family reunification is granted to family members of legally staying and the rights of the family members concerned.

    Reunion with a family member in the Czech republic is possible under the following:

  • The applicant will reunite, if the holder has a long-term or permanent residence permit and has resided in the Czech Republic for at least 15 months; in case of reunification of spouses, both have to be at least 20 years old;
  • The applicant is a family member of a holder of an Employee Card and has lived in the Czech Republic;
  • A spouse, with whom the applicant has been granted asylum under a special legal regulation;
  • A minor with whom the applicant is to be reunited has been granted asylum under particular jurisdiction;
  • The applicant is a minor child that is adopted or in foster care by a foreign national or his/her spouse that has a residence permit in the Czech Republic, or the minor’s guardian or the spouse of the guardian is a foreign national with a residence permit in the Czech Republic and the minor will be taken care of in the Czech Republic;
  • A solitary foreigner who is older than 65 years or disabled foreigner without age limitation, who is dependent upon the care and whose parent or child is granted a residence permit in the territory.

In addition to meeting the conditions for residing in the Czech Republic, the applicant will need to support its application with documents confirming the family ties, health insurance for family members, and proof of financial solvency.

The long-term residence permit for family reunification is generally issued for the lenght of the efficacy of the residence permit issued to the person with whom the foreigner will be reunited.
