Festival of Chocolate in Radovljica
In Radovljica, from 21 to 23 April, the traditional Festival of Chocolate will take place and the city will turn into the sweet capital of Slovenia for the whole weekend. Yesterday, a 100-kilogram chocolate sculpture resembling the mascot of the Gorenjka trademark, created by the master of ice sculpture Miro Rismondo, was presented in the Gorenjka store in Lesci. Besides, the store demonstrated the production of a 95-kilogram chocolate bar.
Until Sunday noon, a huge chocolate bar made to the 95th anniversary of Gorenjka’s work will be stored in a cool place, and then it will become a sweet treat for all visitors of the festival. Last year, the event was attended by 55,000 people, and this year, despite the April weather whims, there will be even more people, as noted by the representative of the organizing committee Nataša Mikelj, the Director of the Turizem Radovljica operating company.
The festive events will be held throughout the centre of Radovljica from the Vurnik Square to the Linhart Square. Forty chocolate producers participate in the festival. Most of them represent Slovenia. One participant is delegated by Italy and Croatia. The honorary guest of the festival will be the famous Danish confectioner Mikkel Friis Holm Ottosen, the winner of several awards for his chocolate creations and the author of a book about chocolate.
