Festival of Contemporary European Cinema Is Held in the Suburbs of Ljubljana
The “Kino na Prostem” film festival has been held in Škofja Loka for the second year in a row. The event, organized by the Kino Sora cinema and the Knjižnica Ivana Tavčarja library, takes place under financial support of the local municipality.
The programme of the event included European films of various genres. From 11 to 15 August, the festival visitors watched 5 movie hits.
The first film screening caused a lot of excitement, although the organizers were initially sceptical about the event attendance. The youth comedy “Go With Me” (Slovene: Pojdi z mano) was included into the programme of the festival only due to the fact that the main role in it is played by a resident of Škofja Loka Ivan Vastl.
The last film was the documentary “Houston, We Have a Problem” (Slovene: Houston, imamo problem!), telling about the Yugoslavian space programme.
“This year, the festival presents only the European films. When choosing a film, we take into account the interests of each of the festival guests groups and the film’s plot, which should be comprehensible and interesting,” notes one of the festival organizers Tea Oblak.
In addition to the voiced films, the audience watched the adventure comedy “Hector and the Search for Happiness” (Slovene: Hector in iskanje sreče), the drama “I, Daniel Blake” (Slovene: Jaz, Daniel Blake), and the French comedy “My God, What Have We Done” (Slovene: Bog, le kaj smo Zagrešili).
