Film by Slovenian Director Is Awarded at the Film Festival in Zagreb

The film “Playing Men” by the Slovenian director and screenwriter Matjaž Ivanišin received a special award at the 14th Zagrebdox International Film Festival in the category of regional documentaries. According to the jury, the film “expressively and ingeniously portrays the masculinity, rivalry and transition from innocence to toxicity in games that we play.” In total, 17 films participated in this category. Besides the work by Matjaž Ivanišin, a similar award was presented to the film of the joint Croatian-Slovenian production “Days of Madness” (Dani ludila, directed by Damian Nenadić).

The international programme of the festival included 21 films. In total, the event’s programme featured 125 motion pictures presented in various categories.

The main award of the Zagreb Film Festival was given to the film “Of Fathers and Sons” by the Syrian director Talal Derki.

Matjaž Ivanišin was born in 1981 in Maribor. In 2000–2007, he studied at the Academy of Theatre, Film, Radio and Television of the University of Ljubljana (at the Film and Television Directing programme).
