Student life is active again in Brežice. The Faculty of Tourism at the University of Maribor has opened its doors to students after the summer holidays. It is worth noting that this year, the Faculty celebrates its 10th anniversary.

For freshmen, the traditional Introductory Day has already been organised by the Faculty of Tourism at the University of Maribor. The purpose of this event is to welcome freshmen and give them useful tips for further effective study. This year, this day was held on Monday, 30 September 2019. In addition to numerous events organised by senior students and faculty members, students had the opportunity to get to know each other and the new academic environment. The next day, 1 October 2019, after the opening lecture by the Dean Prof. Dr Boštjan Brumen, deputy deans and employees of the student dean’s office, the regular academic process was launched.

It should be noted that this is already the 8th intake of first-year students under the Tourism study programme, which this year, has about 80 persons. The Faculty of Tourism, the youngest structural division of the University of Maribor, has been operating in Brežice since 2009. The PhD study programme in Tourism will soon be ready for enrolment as well. Last year, two part-time programmes with instruction in English were opened at the Faculty – the higher professional education programme and the Master’s degree study programme designed for foreign students. They will be taught in Ljubljana. Tasks and goals in both academic and research fields will be enough for several decades, according to the Faculty.

The Faculty will celebrate the first 10 years of its work in December with a ceremony in the Viteška Dvorana hall of the Posavje Regional Museum in Brežice. Besides, there will be also held several events in autumn.
