Grand Festival of Alpine Flora to Be Held in Bohinj
Tomorrow, on 24 May 2019, the Alpine Flora Festival will start in Bohinj and will last for more than 2 weeks. The festival organisers – the Triglav National Park and the tour operator Turizem Bohinj – have already received over 100 applications from the participants.
First organised in 2006, the festival is very popular among foreign guests. It is aimed at promoting and protecting Bohinj’s biodiversity, as well as developing sustainable tourism, protecting natural and cultural heritage, transferring useful knowledge and instilling the love of nature. As the Director of Turizem Bohinj Klemen Langus notes, the festival contributes to the development of the local economy.
The festival is not limited to the usual exhibition of plants, and involves hiking, creative workshops, and a wide range of other activities. Slovenian and foreign tourists can explore the local alpine flora when hiking. It is expected that over 1,200 children from Slovenian schools and kindergartens will visit the 2019 festival. The event organisers will hold workshops and educational contests for all children.
