Hiša Franko Restaurant Enters the World’s Top-100 Restaurants
The Slovenian restaurant Hiša Franko in Kobarid has entered the world’s top-100 restaurants ranking according to Restaurant, one of the most authoritative culinary publications.
This news became clear a week before the publication of the world’s best restaurants ranking, in which the Restaurant unveiled a list of catering establishments ranked 51 to 100.
This year, Hiša Franko from Kobarid takes the 69th place among the world’s one hundred best restaurants being ahead of a number of the world’s leading establishments, including Per Se (New York), Martin Berasategui (Spain), and Maaemo (Oslo). Each of these restaurants has 3 Michelin stars.
Ana Roš is the chef in Hiša Franko. Last winter, the ranking authors chose her as the best chef of the year. Officially, the contest is called “World’s 50 Best Restaurants”, but in fact, it includes 100 best restaurants. The ranking is based on the results of the commission members voting (nearly 1,000 people), which includes workers and hospitality industry experts, journalists and other experts in the modern culinary art. The first contest was held in 2002.
Before the success of Hiša Franko, the JB restaurant from Ljubljana became the best restaurant of Slovenia in this ranking in 2010 (it took the 89th place).
The list of the world’s 50 best restaurants will be officially made public on 5 April in Melbourne (Australia). Ana Roš is also invited to the official ceremony. She will be awarded as the Best Chef of 2017. Other masters of the culinary arts will also be highlighted. It is already known that the British master Heston Blumenthal will receive the prize for many years of work in culinary, and Disfrutar (Barcelona) will be rewarded as the most promising restaurant. Besides, the best restaurant professing the principles of sustainable development and the world’s best pastryman will be named.
