Improvement of the Historic Centre of Celje: Priority for Pedestrians and Cyclists
A part of the historic centre of Celje within the territory of Lilekova in Gubčeva streets with an area of 1,790 m² will be re-planned and improved. Municipal authorities plan to reduce the area for parking and to carry out an experimental improvement in the interests of pedestrians and cyclists. The work budget is almost 1.3 million euros. About half of the funds will be provided by the EU, and the rest by the Ministry of Infrastructure.
In the course of works, the water supply network will be modernised, paving slabs will be laid, new benches and rubbish bins will be installed, bicycle parking will be equipped, street lighting will be replaced, and trees will be planted at the end of the Gubčeva Street. Two parking zones will also be developed: one for people with disabilities, the other for taxi drivers.
The project will be implemented as part of a sustainable mobility policy, as informed by the municipality.
