International Education Fair “Informativa 9” in Ljubljana

On 27–28 January, the Slovenian capital Ljubljana hosted the international Education Fair “Informativa 9“. The delegation of the Lomonosov Moscow State University consisting of representatives from various faculties visited the Fair. During two days, more than 20,000 people visited the Fair. Most of the visitors were upper-form schoolchildren and students choosing the future place of study.

According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation, the interest in the Russian language and Russia is constantly growing in Slovenia. A growing number of young Slovenes are thinking about higher education in our country. This is evidenced by the fact that the stand of the Moscow University enjoyed a constant flow of visitors asking specific questions about the opportunity of studying in the Moscow State University as well as by the fact that during the presentation of the Lomonosov Moscow State University, all seats in the room specially provided for this event were occupied, and that during the two days of the Fair, the representatives of the Moscow State University handed out all promotional materials, which were prudently stocked in large quantities, and that for such a short period of time the university representatives managed to meet with their colleagues from all major Slovenian universities.

Interesting and productive meetings were held in the leading educational institution of the country—the University of Ljubljana. On 27 January, a morning meeting was held between the representatives of the Lomonosov MSU Institute of Russian Language and Culture (MSU IRLC) and the Faculty of Philology with the leadership and colleagues of the Department of Russian Language of the Faculty of Philosophy from the University of Ljubljana. In the afternoon, the Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Computational Mathematics and Cybernetics A. V. Razgulin met with his Slovenian counterpart. In the morning, Razgulin visited the University of Primorska (Koper town), in the premises of which the Scientific and Education Centre of the Lomonosov Moscow State University was established on 10 November 2016.

In the evening, the Rector of the University of Ljubljana Professor Ivan Svetlik hosted the delegation from the Lomonosov Moscow State University. The Director of the Head Moscow State University Testing Centre Professor L. A. Dunayeva and the Director of IRLC Professor E. N. Kovtun summed up the meeting and discussed with the colleagues from the University of Ljubljana their future plans for cooperation.

The Russian representative offices in Slovenia actively participated in organising the visit of the MSU delegation to Slovenia and their meetings with Slovenian colleagues. The interesting and useful for both sides meetings of the delegation members with the Minister-Counsellor of the Russian Embassy in Slovenia G. I. Zamyatina and the head of the Russian Centre of Science and Culture Yu. A. Metelyov (graduates of the Lomonosov Moscow State University) were held.
