International Festival of Classical Music Opens in Maribor

It will last until 21 September. Various children events will be also held as part of the festival. In addition to creative workshops, two concerts will be dedicated to the young guests.

A concert by the Joseph Haydn Philharmonic Orchestra in the Unionska Dvorana hall opened the festival. The orchestra performed works by Ludwig van Beethoven, Dmitry Shostakovich and Joseph Haydn, a composer who comes from Austrian Graz, where the estate of the Esterhazy noble family is located. Nicolas Altstaedt performed the role of conductor and cellist soloist.

This traditional Maribor’s festival is dedicated to romanticism. Guests will hear great musical stories about love.

The Symphony Orchestra and the opera choir of the Slovene National Theatre of Maribor (SNG Maribor) will accompany the final part of the festival. They will perform under the guidance of the Italian conductor Gianluca Martinenghi with the participation of a young pianist Alexander Gadjiev.
