Janja Garnbret Wins the World Cup in Sport Climbing
This season, Janja Garnbret has won a second victory at the World Cup stage in sport climbing in Chamonix, France. The same as last year, the 18-year-old athlete from Carinthia was second to none in lead climbing.
Her partner, 16-year-old Mia Krampl, took seventh place in her first World Cup finals.
Janja Garnbret managed to reach finals in all her performances at the World Cup in lead climbing. In Chamonix, she was in the lead after qualifying rounds and by the end of the semifinals. In the final round, she conquered the last participant’s wall showing an impeccable technique and excellent functional readiness. Garnbret’s victory underscores the seriousness of her plans for this World Cup competition and the desire to keep the leadership won a year ago in the overall standings.
