Judoka Tina Trstenjak Brought the First Gold to Slovenia
A representative of Slovenia Tina Trstenjak became the winner of the Olympic Games 2016 in the category of up to 63 kg. In the finals, she defeated the Frenchwoman Clarisse Agbegnen. Tina won during the second minute by applying Kuzuri-Kami-Shiho-Gatame. Among the athlete’s achievements were the world and European crowns. However, this Olympic gold medal is the first in the Trstenjak’s career.
It is interesting to note that only two women in the history of Slovenia became Olympic champions. Both were judokas, who performed in the same weight category.
Bronze medals went to Yarden Gerbi from Israel and Anika Van Emden from Holland. This is the first medal of the Israeli team at the Games in Rio.
