Kayaker Peter Kauser Is Silver Medal Winner of the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro
One good turn deserves another. Peter Kauser kept the word given to his daughter and won the Olympic silver in slalom having brought the second medal to the national team of Slovenia. Thus, he put the final point in his eventful sports career. He lacked only 0.17 seconds for the coveted champion title.
Rio de Janeiro — Waterpark Deodoro became a lucky place for the Slovenian kayaker Peter Kauser, who performed in singles. Rain, cold and wind did not prevent the veteran of the Olympic team, who experienced the bitterness of disappointment in Beijing (2008, 12th place) and London (2012, 6th place), to win the silver medal from the third attempt, which has a golden hue for him and all concerned.
“It is strange that I was able to stay calm. I wondered whether it was good or not. Apparently, this gloomy rain and wind became a good sign heralding me the luck,” the 32-year-old athlete said peering into the grey sky. He is the former world and European champion, who managed to show in the semi-finals that he felt like fish in water in the artificial complex.
The Briton Joseph Clark was just 0.17 seconds ahead of Peter Kauser in the fight for the gold medal. The Czech Jiří Prskavec received the bronze, having lagged behind Peter by 0.29 seconds.
