Krumpentoč – Potato Omelette in Zasavje Style

A recipe of a simple potato dish, which appeared in the Slovenian cuisine more than 200 years ago.

Krompirjeve palačinke


  1. 800 g potatoes
  2. 2 eggs
  3. 1 tbsp white flour
  4. fat for frying


  1. Peel and grate raw potatoes. Squeeze out excess liquid from the potato mass.
  2. Add salted whipped eggs, knead, add flour and mix thoroughly with a fork. Put some fat into a frying pan and cook pancakes until the golden crust.


Use a small amount of fat because the pancakes should be half-fried and half-baked. Before baking, heat the fat well. Bake pancakes over medium heat. Pancakes are usually fried in a frying pan for 4 pieces. Put dough into the pan and, using a usual tablespoon, form a small pancake. Serve a plate of green salad as a complement to this dish.
