Ljubljana Hosts the Festival of Beer and the National Belgian Cuisine on the First and Second of April
This weekend, the Festival of Belgian Beer and National Belgian Cuisine will take place ton the Pogačarjev Square in Ljubljana. Stalls with refreshments will serve guests from 10:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m.
The Festival guests can taste 40 varieties of draught beer and 60 varieties of bottled beer. The organizers promise to present a few Belgian beers that are rarely found among the commercially available varieties in Slovenian stores.
Particular attention will be paid to the collection of acid beers (beer of spontaneous (“wild”) fermentation), among which it is worth mentioning the exclusive acid beers from the Brussels Cantillon Brewery.
Belgian Beer under UNESCO Protection
Gourmands will surely appreciate the special Belgian beers, such as Westvleteren 8 and 12 as well as the “live” beer Guldendraak brewmaster edition 2016, which was aged in oak casks for whiskey. The stalls will also have the varieties of Trappist beer, which has been protected by UNESCO since this year, including the mentioned Westvleteren 12, which is considered the world’s best “live” beer.
The Festival will feature the new Belgian microbrewery Paljas, which will treat visitors with draught beers Saisons and IPA.
Traditional Belgian fries will be served as a snack.
