On Thursday, 20 September 2018, information about 307 new vacancies was posted on the website of the Luka Koper Port and on the website of the Employment Service. Expansion of the staff will additionally cost the port 9 million euros.
The vacancies are open for 12 positions of various profiles – from dealers, ship crane operators and dispatchers to transport workers and shift supervisors. The tender will last 8 days. Work experience of candidates will be the key factor in the selection of personnel. At the end of the interviews, in January–February 2019, open-term employment contracts will be signed with the future port employees.
According to the Luka Koper Board Chairman, Dimitrij Zadel, in the future the company intends to refuse the services of intermediaries (30 recruiting companies) that are engaged in the selection of port service providers, and move to a simpler and more transparent recruitment scheme.
During the year, Luka Koper plans to recruit 500 new employees. Today the total number of the company personnel makes 1,216 people. Only in 2018, 130 new workers were employed. The total annual labour costs of the Luka Koper Port exceed 55 million euros.
Employment with the Luka Koper Port is considered prestigious. Luka Koper is a strategic object not only for Slovenia’s economy, but for the whole EU as well. In 2014, it was awarded a prize by the Association of European Seaports as the most environmentally friendly and socially responsible port in Europe.
