Magna Steyr and Six New Technology Projects for Slovenia
In Slovenia, several thousands of highly skilled job positions can appear in the least developed regions of the country.
“I still cannot comment in detail on this issue, but now we are in negotiations with six potential investors planning projects in Slovenia. The projects are related to the high technology, automotive industry, chemical industry and metal working,” the State Secretary of the Ministry of Economy Aleš Cantarutti told in his interview with the MMC.
As it became known, we are talking about a possible cooperation with the Austrian company Magna Steyr in Maribor. Its new production projects will create 3,000 new job positions and contribute to the development of the region. It will be difficult to develop all six potential investment projects at once, but Cantarutti is sure that at least four of them will be successfully implemented.
The Magna Steyr Company, a member of the Magne International Group, is one of the most important suppliers to the automotive industry. The Magna Steyr staff consists of about 6,000 people. The company manufactures chassis, seats, electronics, engine components, and other automotive parts. The annual turnover of the Magne International equals to 26 billion euros with almost 152,000 employed workers.
A possible cooperation with the Magna Steyr in Slovenia encourages the development of the automotive industry and, in particular, the development of electric vehicles. The Ministry of Economy took upon a part of the costs for the purchase of a land plot, and this is another argument in favour of the manufacture transfer to Slovenia.
