Maribor Hosts the Largest Theatre Festival with the Participation of Slovenian and Foreign Cultural Figures

On 15–28 October 2018, the largest theatre festival in the country, Borštnikovo Srečanje, takes place in Maribor. It aims to promote Slovenian theatrical art in Slovenia and abroad.

The current 53rd festival features speeches by theatre experts, productions, seminars and other events with the participation of Slovenian and foreign professional actors, directors, producers, critics and journalists. A student theatre also operates within the framework of the festival.

Following the festival results, winners will be awarded in several nominations, and the best actor will receive the Grand Prix – Borštnikov Prstan (Borštnik’s Ring).

It should be noted that representatives of the Faculty of Variety Art of the legendary Russian Institute of Theatrical Art (GITIS) take part in the festival with the Mikhail Bulgakov’s Zoyka’s Apartment play. The play is staged by Assoc. Prof. Aleksey Kurganov. The play was performed on the Maribor’s stage on Tuesday, 16 October 2018.
