Maribor Is Declared the European Capital of Social Economy
Slovenia received an annual mandate for the chairmanship in 2018 among the EU countries in the sphere of social economy. This was reported by the Government Department of Public Relations (Ukom). For this period, Maribor is announced the European capital of social economy.
The decision was made at a conference on the role of social economy in the future. The conference was held on the eve of the EU Social Summit for Fair Jobs and Growth opened last week in Gothenburg (Sweden). State Secretary of the Prime Minister’s Office Tadej Slapnik presented Slovenia’s efforts to create and strengthen the ecosystem of the social economy in the country.
