New Auditoriums at the University of Maribor Have Been Repaired
The Faculty of Civil Engineering, Transportation Engineering and Architecture of the University of Maribor (FGPA UM) will open the renovated auditoriums for its academic programs on Wednesday, 5 October 2016 at 12:00.
The Faculty has repaired one of the most impressive buildings in the classical style in the capital of Styria — the former Austro-Hungarian Bank (designed by Fritz Fridriger). During the reconstruction of the building, the research and development facilities of the Civil Engineering Faculty and its institutions were improved in the Krekova Street, 2 in Maribor. In total, 2,342.9 sq. m were restored and renovated. This will extend the useful space of the University and ensure the smooth implementation of the research and teaching activities at the FGPA UM.
According to the project, developed by the architects Associate Professor Janko Zadravec in cooperation with Professor Uroš Lobnik, the classrooms, cabinets for practical studies, laboratories, a computer classroom, a workshop, and a show room were renovated.
For more than ten years, the FGPA UM was forced to rent premises for conducting some of the classes. Starting from the 2016/2017 academic year, the study program “Architecture”(Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees) under the auspices of the Department of Architecture and the Department of Transport Engineering will be fully taught at the University.
