Novo Mesto Hosts the Fifth Classical and Contemporary Music Festival

The Fifth Festival of Classical and Contemporary Music – Sem Glasba, Sem Mesto (I Am the Music, I Am the City) – is held in Novo Mesto. The event is organised by the Novo Mesto Centre and the city municipality. The festival was opened with the Carl Orff’s stage cantata Carmina Burana at the Marof Sport Palace on Monday, 27 May 2019. On Tuesday, 28 May 2019, a concert was held by the duet of the singer Jelena Milušić and the accordionist Merim Ključo in a local evangelical church.

The third day of the festival will be marked by the performance of the Tetrakis quartet (4 drummers and 1 marimbist) with the participation of drummers Petra Vidmar at the Cultural Centre of Janez Trdina.

The fourth day of the event will take place in the rhythm of the Argentine tango and accordion within the framework of the Tango Story project. The Cultural Centre of Janez Trdina will feature accordionist Borut Zagoranski, violinist Matija Krečič, bassist Žiga Golob, multi-instrumentalist Marko Korošec, pianist Mladen Delin, reciter Peter Srpčič, Tango world champions Andreja Podlogar and Blaž Bertoncelj, as well as singer Irena Yebuah Tiran.

The festival will end on 31 May 2019. Its programme will be crowned with the performance of the laureates of the Third International Vocal Competition and the traditional Night of Slovenian Composers with the participation of the bassoonist Janez Pincolič, the saxophonist Domen Koren, and the harmonica player Manca Dornik.
