According to the Statistics Service, in June 2018, more than 570 thousand tourists visited Slovenia making over 1.4 million overnights. 72% of all overnights were made by foreign tourists.
In June this year, local tourists had 138 thousand visits and 406 thousand overnights, and foreign tourists made 433 thousand visits and over 1 million overnights.
Slovenia is more often visited by tourists from Germany than other countries. In June this year, they made 14% of all overnights, which is almost 145 thousand stays. German tourists are followed by Austrians (9% overnights), Italians (8%), Britons (6%), Dutch (5%), and Czechs (4%).
Over 694,000 overnight stays (48%) in June 2018 were made by tourists in hotels, 14% in apartments and sanatoriums, 14% in camping, 5% in private houses and rooms, and 5% in hostels.
The largest number of overnights made by tourists happened to mountain municipalities, which is 29% or almost 419 thousand stays. They are followed by maritime municipalities (23%), municipalities with sanatorium-resort facilities (19%) and the municipality of Ljubljana (13%).
