Basic information about the programme

  5. ECTS: 180 credits
  6. * ECTS (European Credit Transfer and Accumulation System) - is a European system for translation and accumulation of points/results - a European system for recording the academic work of students during an educational programme or course. 1 academic year corresponds to 60 ECTS points, which is about 1500-1800 study hours.

About the programme

This study programme is comparable to similar programmes across Europe. In the following years the programme will be further developed in order to really take into account the needs of our environment and to ensure the best possible implementation of the latest research and knowledge.

The courses of the 1st and the 2nd year: Professional terminology in a foreign language,  Mathematics, Construction modelling, Building materials, Construction physics, Project management, Construction informatics, Basics of building architecture, Statics of Construction, Basics of hydrotechnics, Geotechnics, Landscape protection and ecology, Construction legislation, Energy-saving buildings, Concrete constructions, Steel constructions, Transport infrastructure, Technology and organisation of construction.

In the 5th semester (3rd year) the study programme is divided – 2 modules: Construction structures and Infrastructure with ecology. According to that, there are different courses for each module.

Practical training is compulsory for all students before completing their studies. The purpose of the training is that students learn to use the acquired knowledge in a real business environment, which significantly increases their employment prospects.

Admission requirements

 

admission to the first year of study for those who:

  • passed the final examination of any full secondary-school programme,
  • passed the vocational final examination or general final examination,
  • finished any full secondary school programme prior to 01. 06. 1995.

Employment prospects

A construction engineer can work in the supervision of building construction, in an operation as a contractor of construction work, or as a site organiser, or as a designer in the design of construction objects. She works in the laboratory for the study and testing of building materials, in the supervision of investments in construction works for the state administration or in the commercial departments.
