Basic information about the programme

  1. Level: master's study programme
  2. Mode of study: full-time
  3. Duration: 2 years (4 semesters)
  4. Language of study: Slovene, English
  5. ECTS: 120 credits
    ECTS (European Credit Transfer and Accumulation System) - is an European system for translation and accumulation of points/results. This system was created for recording the academic work of students during an educational programme or course. One academic year corresponds to 60 ECTS points, which is about 1500-1800 study hours.

About the programme

The syllabus has a distinct interdisciplinary and research character. It covers all the major fields of management and economics, as well as technology and engineering, information sciences and environmental sciences.

The programme consists of:

  • – required subjects (Economy for Engineers, Introduction to Modern Technological Systems, Company Strategic Management, Selected topics from information sciences),
  • – compulsory elective subjects (Automatic Control Systems, Contemporary Measurement Techniques, Robotics, Decision Support Models and Systems, Resource and Process modelling, Open Source Information Systems),
  • – elective subjects (Data mining, knowledge Management, Business English, etc.),
  • – group and individual projects.

The study course is organised as a series of short intensive courses, seminars and laboratory exercises. Teaching language is Slovene or English for specific courses in the case that sufficient number of English speaking students is enrolled to the course.

The study is based on a system that defines the required number of credit points for each degree and leaves the choice of the subjects mostly to student and his/her mentor.

Master’s degree candidates must complete the following study requirements: all required exams, projects´ work, and successful defence of the master’s thesis.

Admission requirements

 

Students can register for the first year if they:

  • – applicants should normally have a first degree in the fields of technology, engineering and management, economics or organisation.
  • – applicants with a first degree in other fields of study.

The Slovene Language Certificate is not required to enrol on this programme in Slovene.

English Language Requirements for Foreign Students: the general minimum level of English language skills required is B2.

Employment prospects

A graduate who completes the Master’s programmes will show a distinctive multidisciplinary and interdisciplinary knowledge of the field.

They will be able to work efficiently in places, which do not require narrow or very specific technical knowledge, but a good technical foundation coupled with economic and organisational skills. They will be able to integrate different more or less specialised groups into an efficient team, a skill needed by team and production leaders.

If he/she is chosen not to act as a team leader, his/her main role will be to liaise between professionals of different backgrounds (technical, technological, economic, organisational, and other) and thus ensure business efficiency within interdisciplinary fields.
