Basic information about the programme

    ECTS (European Credit Transfer and Accumulation System) - is an European system for translation and accumulation of points/results. This system was created for recording the academic work of students during an educational programme or course. One academic year corresponds to 60 ECTS points, which is about 1500-1800 study hours.

About the programme

Extraction of mineral resources requires special knowledge in the fields of underground structures, transport systems, ventilation, operation of power systems, drainage and storage. Due to the nature of the work, safety and occupational safety are very important. The engineer monitors and monitors the safety and technological conditions at workplaces.

Knowledge and qualifications:

– solving practical problems in the field of geotechnology and mining, based on the acquired knowledge of extraction of mineral resources, the implementation of geotechnical and mining works, the production of underground spaces and shafts,

– planning geotechnical and mining processes and solving problems in accordance with safety, ecological and environmental requirements,

– compliance with basic legislation, standardisation, technical regulations, certification and quality assurance systems in the field of geotechnology and mining,

– the use of measuring instruments necessary for performing works in the field of mineral resource extraction,

– evaluation of solutions, technologies, products and equipment in the field of geotechnology and mining.

Admission requirements

Admission requirements for the first year:

  • – passed final examinations or vocational final examinations, or completed relevant education according to the previous regulations, or

  • – passed master's or managerial examination, three years of professional experience and a passed test of knowledge from general education subjects to the extent determined for vocational final examinations in secondary vocational education.

  • – head of reverse mine surveying,
  • – coal mine worker on call,
  • – professional maintenance worker – mining activity,
  • – professional person for fire safety,

  • – technical head of stone aggregates production,
  • – supervisor of stone aggregates production,
  • – supervisor of recultivation works.
