International business

Basic information about the programme

  4. Language of study: Slovene (full-time, part-time), English (full-time)
  5. ECTS: 120 credits
    ECTS (European Credit Transfer and Accumulation System) - is an European system for translation and accumulation of points/results. This system was created for recording the academic work of students during an educational programme or course. One academic year corresponds to 60 ECTS points, which is about 1500-1800 study hours.

Interesting fact: The International Business graduate programme holds the European CeQuInt (Certificate for Quality in Internationalisation) certificate in the field of internationalisation awarded by the European Consortium for Accreditation (ECA).

Possibility: Students exchange with foreign Universities.

The mission of IB master programme focuses on educating principled international leaders with a global mindset and regional perspective who contribute to international business and society. It enables a unique learning experience in the heart of Europe where western and eastern, northern and southern European business cultures meet to help build a unique global business mindset. The IB master programme is one of the most internationally-oriented master programmes at the Faculty of Economics. On average, the IB master programme enrols students of about 20 different nationalities every year. On top of the diverse cultural background of our students and the international background of our faculty teaching in the programme, several long-term visiting faculties from renowned universities (University of Haifa, Israel; University of Washington, USA; University of Leeds, UK; Stockholm University, Sweden; Shanghai University of International Business and Economics, China etc.) ensure that every year our students receive the best possible know-how from around the world.  Throughout the programme students carry out different projects related to genuine business problems of actual companies by employing various analytical techniques. The IB master programme also offers several exchange opportunities to its students in Europe, East Asia and Central Asia, or North America.

Admission requirements

 

first-year enrolment is open to:

  • – Graduates of first-level programmes in relevant study programmes with at least 180 ECTS, or those that have completed the current programme of study for qualification in relevant study programmes;
  • – Graduates of equivalent courses listed in the previous paragraph in unrelated areas of study and must complete additional academic requirements of 12 ECTS: Microeconomics 1 (6 ECTS) and Introduction to Business (6 ECTS).

Employment prospects

Graduates from our IB programme hold many different positions: export managers, executives holding international business and international marketing business functions, managers of subsidiaries or representative offices abroad, marketing managers of subsidiaries abroad or in Slovenia, brand or product managers in international companies, chiefs of logistics or supply chain management, procurement managers, international project managers etc.
