Puklavec Family Wines Cellar from Ormož Becomes the Winemaker of the Year

Within the framework of the AGRA Fair, the wine cellar Puklavec Family Wines from the settlement of Ormož was awarded the title “Winemaker of the Year”. This is the first time this title is awarded during the fair.

The champion of the country and the winner of competition have also been chosen for the first time in the history of this event. Both titles were awarded to the Ranina wine brand from the settlement of Radgonske Gorice. In parallel, the champions of Austria and Croatia were announced. They were the wine produced by Weingut Felberjörgl, and the wine by OPG Đurinski.

In total, 573 wine brands by 193 winemakers from 6 countries of the world were represented at the fair. Each of the participating countries has submitted a minimum of 25 brands of wine. The drinks presented at the fair included white dry wines, red dry wines, semidry and semisweet wines, sweet wines, sparkling wines and special wines (sweet dessert wines, flavoured wines, alcoholised wines, and liqueurs). The reward went to the cellar, which submitted 5 wine brands and received the highest score in 3 categories in the course of their evaluation.

The programme of the fair also included the evaluation of organic wines (bio wines), 7 brands of which were presented by 4 winemakers from Slovenia and Austria.

As it was reported earlier, AGRA-2018 was attended by the Graduate School of Viticulture and Oenology of the University of Nova Gorica.
